Description

"Shall we get going?"

:frail:Shinsekai Yori: Final Episode:frail:
Characters (from left to right): Akki, Asahina Satoru, Watanabe Saki, Aonuma Shun

♫-------------------------------------------♫

I can't believe that Shinsekai Yori ended :iconlazycryplz: After 25 wonderful episodes with many feels and moments where I cried my eyes out and countless scenes full of inspiration, I'm so gonna miss it~ :saddummy:
I'll definitely rewatch it a thousand times and more~ I'm just so in love with the setting and the characters and the wonderful art and designs :iconembarrasedplz:

♫-------------------------------------------♫

:frail:"Ginga No Egao" means "Milky Way smile". It's inspired because of Shun of course haha~ Whenever I think of him, I think of stars and galaxies, not only because of his name (means "sparkling/shining"), but also because of the scene where he shows Saki the night sky *or space like Saki says* on the water's reflexion, and also because he named his dog "Subaru" (means "Pleiades", a constellation in the sky), because he found him as a small puppy all alone under the night sky :happycry:

So I decided to make a series of Shinsekai Yori illustrations named "Milky Way smile". One more reason is because the final episode ended with Shun saying to Saki "Shall we get going" andandandddd!!! You know how much I love Shun so the more reasons to draw him, the better :iconhappyblueplz:

♫-------------------------------------------♫

:frail:Technical stuff:
For this picture I mixed up 3 different techniques from my previous experimentations :dummy:

:bulletyellow: 1.Soft,double outlines (like used in this :pointr: [link] ). Two layers of outlines, the bottom one set to lower opacity, the top one only framing the first, and in different color.
:bulletyellow: 2.Water-brush mixing (like used in this :pointr: [link]). Used this technique to mix the flat colors. Better results if the brush has some texture too.
:bulletyellow: 3.Reverse-shading (like used in this :pointr:[link]) Use vivid colors to "shade" parts for which any other normal person would've used a dark color :lmao: Gives a "glowing from the inside" effect, that's why I call it "reverse shading" lol :giggle:

So yeah guess I didn't experiment around for nothing! :icontardmanplz: Though I still think I used...a bit too many colors~ Forgive me dear eyes :iconlazypoolplz: But anyway! I'll be using that 3-way-mix for the "Ginga No Egao" illustrations, but that doesn't mean I'll stop experimenting with other styles in other pictures :la:

Ok I should stop XD You can read more ranting in my tumblr posts I guess :lmao:

Ahhhh, the feeling is bad again..... I loves that anime.

I ship Satoru x Saki x Shun. It's much better right? It's a shame that Shun had to become that.....

The art was good I loves it. When they we're in the snow and the shelter scene why didn't we see the kiss scenes? Even though they "did it".
